We found through experimentation that biological inputs improved soil fertility, resulting in stronger plants, healthier and higher quality grain and improved profitability.
We removed livestock from our farm to concentrate on the health of the soil and reduce our dependence on commercial fertiliser and chemicals. We then began making compost for our own private farming use.
We were trained in the Lübke method of Controlled Microbial Composting (CMC), a closely monitored, intensive compost windrow management system developed to produce an aerobic premium grade/quality humified compost.
As our interest in, and the positive results from our compost product increased, we diversified into the full-time business of developing and producing our own humified compost.
