What makes Jorobi Natural Fertiliser compost different from others?
Jorobi Natural Fertiliser Compost is fully mature, aerobic, humified compost. Very few compost products available on the market are humified and fully matured compost. This may be due to the fact it is a very long, slow labour-intensive process. In our small family owned and operated business, we take the time to ensure every row of compost gets the same degree of care and attention to detail as the next. The most important indicator as to the quality of one compost from another is the degree of humification. Because of the high quality of our compost, our product can be used in smaller quantities than may other products to get the same or better results.
What is Compost?
Compost is the final product in the process of the decomposition of organic matter by microorganisms and mechanical processing. Compost has a very beneficial effect on plant growth, moisture availability, microbial activity, soil structure and disease suppression.
What is Humus?

What is Humified Compost?
Humified compost has a small quantity of clay added to allow the complex process of humification to occur by the work of the microorganisms in the production phase.
What is Mulch?
Mulch is any carbon source that can be utilized to cover the surface of the soil as a protective layer. This layer can provide many benefits in weed control, reduced moisture loss and providing slow release nutrients to the soil. The downside of incorrectly using mulches is it can lock up nitrogen, effectively reducing the availability of this nutrient to the crop or garden plant.
Do I need to dig compost in?
It is advisable to dig compost in to the topsoil layer, but it is not always necessary. In a garden area exposed to long periods of direct sunlight it will be beneficial to dig compost in. Short periods of a few hours a day of direct sunlight will have very little negative effect. Water the compost in well after applying to the garden bed.
Can I store my compost?
Compost can be stored. Compost must be kept moist, not wet (15-25% moisture) and stored in a covered area. Mature compost stored correctly will last for 12 months or more without compromising its efficiency. To allow the product to completely dry out will affect its efficacy over time.
How much compost do I need to use for plants pots?
The maximum safe level of compost admixture in a potting mix is 50/50 compost to soil ratio, or 30/70 when used with a bark based potting mix. When potting up “pot plants” a 30/30/40 compost, potting mix, soil mixture can be used. Pot plants will benefit from a follow up dressing of a handful of compost per plant, per week watered in until established.
